MoD and SAF members achieve success at 33rd Novi Sad Marathon



Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces achieved notable results and won several medals at the 33rd Novi Sad Marathon held today. The marathon brought together more than 1,300 runners from 26 countries.
Nearly 300 members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, including cadets of the Military Academy, and students of the Military Grammar School and 1300 Corporals Secondary Vocational Military School achieved notable results in the 42.195 km, 10.5 km, and 5 km races, as well as in the 42.195 relay.
 
Captain Marko Božić from the 72nd Special Operations Brigade won second place in the main marathon event (42.195 km), completing the race in 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 14 seconds. He was also the fastest domestic competitor.
In the 42.195 km relay, the team from the 72nd Special Operations Brigade claimed first place overall. The 63rd Parachute Brigade team took second place, while the Army, Training Command, and Military Grammar School teams placed fourth through sixth.

In the 25 km race, champion titles among SAF members were won by civilian employee Tijana Kabić from the Training Command in the women’s category, and civilian employee Milivoje Jovović from the Technical Test Centre in the men’s category. 
In the 10.5 km race, Military Academy Cadet Jovana Ćirović took second place in the women’s category, while Sergeant Ivan Dlačić from the 72nd Special Operations Brigade finished second in the men’s category. Both placed first in the military and police category. Professional soldier Jovana Pavlović, also from the 72nd Special Brigade, placed third in the women’s category.
 
In the 5 km race, the runner-up title overall went to civilian employee Mariana Čegar Lukić from the Ministry of Defence Regional Centre Novi Sad, who also took first place in the military and police category.
 
The number of participants from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, along with their outstanding results, is clear proof of the high quality of physical training and the importance placed on sports within the defence system.
