Tactical Exercise "Neighbours 25" completed

The final phase of the international tactical exercise Neighbours 25, which brought together members of the Serbian Armed Forces’ 1st Army Brigade and the Hungarian Defence Forces’ 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, was conducted today at the Pasuljanske Livade training area.
The purpose of the ten-day exercise was to improve the ability to plan and conduct multinational operations, enhance coordination and interoperability, while strengthening mutual trust and exchanging experiences.

Over the course of several days in the field, members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hungarian Defence Forces practised combat techniques and procedures for tactical-level operations, using modern combat vehicles, as well as reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering systems.

As Second Lieutenant Teodora Đukanović from the 11th Infantry Battalion explains, the final day of the exercise demonstrated the personnel’s tactical proficiency and their effective use of the 4x4 BOV OT and Lazar 3 armoured fighting vehicles, and high-mobility Humvee vehicles.
— The Neighbours tactical exercise is traditionally conducted by members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hungarian Defence Forces. This exercise has given me valuable experience that will contribute to the development of my career – said Second Lieutenant Đukanović, emphasizing that the exercise was an excellent opportunity for her to gain insight into the way another military functions, to exchange knowledge and experience, and to acquire new skills. She said it had been a great privilege for her to work alongside members of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

Staff Sergeant Tibor Csada of the HDF 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade said it had been a great privilege for him to take part in the joint military exercise. He noted that during the exercise, they had gained considerable experience and formed many friendships with members of the Serbian Armed Forces. He emphasized that the exercise had helped members of the Hungarian Defence Forces understand their position more clearly and taught them to respond to specific situations in a combat environment.
The execution of the exercise’s final phase was attended by Brigadier General Jovica Matić, Commander of the 1st Army Brigade, and Colonel István Hattyár, Commander of the 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

This was the 10th joint Neighbours exercise conducted by Serbian and Hungarian armed forces. In addition to strengthening military-to-military cooperation and overall bilateral relations between the two countries, the exercise plays an important role in building the Serbian Armed Forces’ capacity to plan, organize, and carry out international exercises, while also enhancing the readiness of SAF units for participation in peacekeeping operations.
