SYMOPIS started on Tara



SYMOPIS-37th symposium on operational research started yesterday in the military tourist facility Tara.


It is scientific research conference with international participants who gathers renowned operational researchers, theorists and experts for the purpose, of reviewing and confirming the achievement in the previous year and also to exchange scientific and expert information.

During this conference held from 21st to 24th September, researchers and scientific workers from the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces will participate from some ten research institutes and faculties in Serbia. The main organizer is MoD and SAF while the Strategic Planning Department is the coordinator for preparation and organization.


The symposium was opened by the Head of the Strategic Planning Department professor Bozidar Forca, PhD who stressed that operational research are being widely implemented in the system of defense of Serbia, especially in the process of decision making, optimization of the system of command, organization of work, organization of the scientific research activity military education and training of SAF members.

-At the times before us, we are facing new tasks and challenges for more intensive development. These tasks stem from organizational changes as integral part of the professionalization of its establishments. The development of operational research should be directed towards improving the existing methods, while also attempting to form new methods and to integrate them into more complex research processes, as General Forza pointed out.

Following the address of general Forza, Brig. Gen. Mitar Kovac, Head of the Planning and Development Department of the SAF GS read the names of researchers awarded the annual SYMOPIS scroll for best research results. These are professor Mirjana Cangalovic, PhD, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, professor Nenad Mladenovic, PhD and professor Spasoje Mucibabic, retired general.

On the first day of the conference, two lectures were given by professor Momcilo Milinovic, and professor Yuriy Kocetov from Russia.

A total of 188 papers will be presented at this year’s symposium in 26 sections, while Mod experts will present 45 papers, where the major number of papers is in the field of operational research in the defense system.

Once again this conference has confirmed its name as one of the top research conferences where the most important problems are being continually presented.
