72nd Special Operations Brigade conducts night exercise on river

Members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade have executed a night training exercise on the Danube River and its riverbanks in the Fruška Gora region. The exercise focused on executing sabotage operations against critical infrastructure within the depth of enemy’s disposition.
Unit members practised the planning and execution of sabotage missions in reduced-visibility conditions, relying on team coordination and precise synchronization of movements on water and along the riverbank. Training activities included covert night movement, overcoming natural and man-made obstacles, and carrying out tasks under conditions designed to simulate a real-world combat environment.

During the exercise, instructors and commanders assessed the combat teams’ ability to operate under specific conditions – on the river at night. The results confirmed that unit members have achieved a high level of mental and physical resilience, weapons proficiency, and tactical competence, while demonstrating strong team spirit and readiness for all types of missions.

Night training exercises on the river are an important component of the complex six-month training programme for combat divers. During the course, trainees are prepared to conduct sabotage, counter-sabotage, and counter-terrorism operations, as well as to gather intelligence on land, on the water, and underwater.
Serbian Armed Forces’ combat divers are highly versatile soldiers trained to carry out the most complex missions both on friendly territory and in enemy controlled areas. Their exceptional proficiency is a prerequisite for successfully conducting special operations in all hydrometeorological and tactical conditions, which is why they undergo continuous, rigorous training throughout the year.
