24th Special Forces Parachuting Competition officially opens



The 24th Special Forces Parachuting Competition, hosted by the 63rd Parachute Brigade, was officially opened today at the Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović military airfield in ​​Niš.
The opening ceremony marking the beginning of this international competition was attended by the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.

Modelled after elite international Special Forces competitions, this competition includes a demanding 25-kilometre course with a 600-metre elevation difference, along which participants must complete a variety of tactical and fire missions. This year’s competition features nine teams: four from the 63rd Parachute Brigade, two from the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, and one team each from the armed forces of Cyprus, Romania, and Spain.
In this extremely demanding competition, participants will compete in 14 disciplines: parachute landing, automatic rifle and pistol shooting, knife throwing, evacuation of the wounded and recovery of broken-down vehicle, overcoming water obstacles and contaminated soil, precision bombing, rope climbing and area search. The competition concludes on Friday.

During his visit to the 63rd Parachute Brigade, the Chief of the General Staff held a meeting with this elite unit’s command staff, discussing key tasks and plans for the period ahead.
General Mojsilović also spoke about the recently held Power of Unity military parade and commended the performance of the 63rd Parachute Brigade personnel, who, alongside other SAF members, demonstrated a high-level of motivation, training, and dedication to their calling and the mission of defending the Republic of Serbia, throughout the preparation and execution stages of the event.
