Minister Gašić attends ceremony marking Emergency Management Sector Day
This evening, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended a formal ceremony at the “Stefan Nemanja” Cultural Centre in Lapovo, marking the Day of the Emergency Management Sector of the Ministry of the Interior.
On that occasion, Prime Minister Đuro Macut extended his congratulations, describing members of the Emergency Management Sector as true heroes in times of peace, individuals who have earned the respect of all citizens. He also noted that the Government stands ready to support them in every way.Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić emphasized that the Emergency Management Sector is synonymous with courage, determination, and resilience. He recalled the wildfires that swept across the Republic of Serbia during the summer, noting that these events highlighted the sector’s ability to mobilize and respond swiftly, which is vital for our country’s security.
Assistant Minister of the Interior and Head of the Emergency Management Sector, Luka Čaušić, stated that courage, compassion, solidarity and love for the homeland are celebrated today. He expressed confidence that, with the support of the state, which is expected in the coming period, the Sector will have the capacity to become one of the most effective emergency services in Europe.At tonight’s ceremony, Assistant Minister Luka Čaušić presented awards to distinguished individuals and representatives of various organizations.
The event was attended by Advisor to the President of the Republic of Serbia Milorad Veljović, government ministers, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Šumadija, Head of the Office of the Minister of Defence Colonel Nikola Matović, representatives of local administrations and self-governments, as well as numerous guests.The Emergency Management Sector of the Ministry of the Interior celebrates its day on September 17, commemorating its formation in 2009, when protection and rescue services were brought together. The Sector is responsible for protecting and rescuing people, as well as for preserving material and cultural assets during natural disasters and industrial accidents. It also coordinates and enhances the civil protection system across the entire Republic of Serbia.
