Newly recruited soldiers commence military service

The first phase of individual training for the September 2025 intake of soldiers is currently underway at the Serbian Armed Forces training centres in Sombor and Leskovac.
The training programme during this phase of military service includes individual preparation, physical conditioning, mastering basic combat skills, and acquiring the essential knowledge required to carry out military duties as part of a unit.

During their initial weeks, soldiers adapt to the military life, becoming familiar with service regulations, unit organization and standard procedures. The focus is on personal weapons training, tactical drills, and the development of team spirit and discipline. This phase is a crucial step in shaping well-trained and motivated members of the Serbian Armed Forces, ready to carry out all missions in service of the homeland.
The training is conducted by experienced instructors and officers who monitor the soldiers’ progress and provide support throughout every segment of their training. This phase lasts until mid-October and is identical for soldiers of all specialties. It concludes with an evaluation of their readiness to perform basic individual tasks, after which the soldiers will be reassigned to specialized training centres.

Although they have been in the military for only two weeks, the soldiers of the September 2025 intake are demonstrating a high level of motivation and commitment, both in training and in carrying out all other duties. Many of them have already expressed a desire to become professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces, which they can apply for while still performing their military service.
