International UN Military Observers Course

An international United Nations Military Observers Course, organized by the Serbian Armed Forces’ Peacekeeping Operations Centre, is currently underway at Base South near Bujanovac.
The three-week course is designed to prepare officers for deployment as UN military observers, in line with current UN standards and procedures.

The training programme is centred on the role of military observers within integrated UN missions, combining practical field work with instruction delivered by personnel with extensive experience from peacekeeping operations.

The course brings together ten officers from the Serbian Armed Forces and nine participants from foreign militaries. It is conducted by the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, with the support of instructors from partner training centres in Austria, Greece, Hungary, and Germany.
The course plays an important role in the overall training system for participation in multinational operations provided by the Serbian Armed Forces, while also enhancing the Peacekeeping Operations Centre’s capacity to plan, organize, and conduct both national and international training courses.

Since 2017, the Peacekeeping Operations Centre has been certified by the United Nations Integrated Training Service to conduct this course. The broad international interest in the course stands as a testament to the high-quality training and preparation provided by the Serbian Armed Forces for participation in peacekeeping operations.
