Bilateral defence consultations with Czech Republic



A Ministry of Defence delegation, led by Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, met today with a delegation from the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, headed by Mr Martin Riegl, Czech Defence Policy Director, for bilateral defence consultations.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the political and security situation both in the region and globally. Assistant Minister Bandić conveyed the official positions of the Republic of Serbia, with a particular focus on the situation in Serbia’s southern province.

Director Riegl emphasized that Serbia is an important partner for the Czech Republic in the region, making the continuation of dialogue between the countries highly valuable. He also expressed the Czech Republic’s support for Serbia on its path toward European integration.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to developing defence cooperation, in line with the overall relations and shared interests of the two countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the readiness to continue military-economic cooperation, and various modalities for further cooperation in areas of mutual interest were discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan between the Ministries of Defence of Serbia and the Czech Republic was signed.
