Multinational Force and Observers delegation pays official visit

Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić met today with a delegation from the international peacekeeping organization Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), led by MFO Director General, Elizabeth Dibble.
Assistant Minister Bandić emphasized that the Republic of Serbia places great importance on global peacekeeping efforts, particularly through participation in multinational operations under the auspices of the United Nations, the European Union, and since 2023, the Multinational Force and Observers.

He noted that through their contribution to global peace, the Serbian Armed Forces reaffirm their role as an interoperable and reliable partner, equipped with modern assets.

Bandić emphasized that Serbia highly values the efforts of the mission created to establish and maintain peace and stability on the Sinai Peninsula. He noted that meetings with the Multinational Force and Observers officials contribute to a deeper understanding and more accurate insight into the situation on the Sinai Peninsula and in the multinational operation in which the Serbian Armed Forces participate by contributing an engineering unit.
During the meeting, he thanked the organization for the support it provides to members of the Serbian contingent in the area of operations, particularly in ensuring adequate living and working conditions. He emphasized that Serbia will continue deploying its personnel to the mission on the Sinai Peninsula, adding that they will carry out all assigned tasks professionally and responsibly, in accordance with the mission’s mandate, and will represent both Serbia and the Serbian Armed Forces with honour in the multinational environment.

Director General Dibble presented an overview of the organization’s status, its current activities and operations, as well as the state of relations between the contracting parties (Egypt and Israel), and gave an overview of the security challenges on the Sinai Peninsula. She expressed her appreciation for the cooperation with Serbia and underscored the valuable contribution of the Serbian Armed Forces to the Multinational Force and Observers. She commended the Serbian contingent for their professionalism, proficiency and discipline in carrying out their duties, and expressed hope that Serbia would continue its participation in the mission in the period ahead.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have been taking part in the Multinational Force and Observers mission in Sinai since 2023 with a 10-member engineering unit. The fifth Serbian contingent is currently deployed in the area of operations.
