Minister Gašić meets with Somali Minister of Defence
This evening, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić had a working dinner with the Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, who is currently on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia as part of a delegation from Somalia.

The Minister of Defence emphasized that Serbia is a militarily neutral country that develops and strengthens relations with other states and alliances in accordance with its own interests, with the aim of enhancing regional and national security.
He stressed that the ongoing process of secession of the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo poses primary security threat for Serbia. He noted that the recognition of the so-called Kosovo by a number of countries negatively impacts the strengthening of trust and cooperation, and hampers the process of regional stabilization. Minister Gašić also emphasized that Serbia firmly insists on the strict implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and consistently points out violations of this resolution to the international community.

During the conversation, the two ministers agreed that there is strong potential for establishing defence cooperation, which would further strengthen the overall bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The Minister of Defence of Somalia thanked his counterpart for the warm hospitality and expressed his conviction that the cooperation would develop in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
As part of his official visit to Serbia, Minister Fiqi is scheduled to visit the Military Medical Academy tomorrow.
