SAF team rotated in EU Training Mission in Somalia
In recent days, a scheduled rotation of the Serbian Armed Forces contingent deployed in the European Union Training Mission (EUTM) in Somalia has been carried out. Since their arrival in mission area in February of this year, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, consisting of a staff officer serving as medical advisor to the mission commander and a five-member medical team, have successfully fulfilled all assigned tasks. Through their professionalism and expertise, they upheld the reputation of the SAF Medical Corps within a multinational environment.
Over the next six months, the newly-deployed SAF team will, in line with the mission mandate, continue to provide medical support during training, deliver preventive healthcare, and treat members of the multinational force participating in the mission. The Serbian Armed Forces began participating in the European Union Training Mission in Somalia in 2012. Since then, more than 130 doctors and medical technicians have served in the mission, both within the mission command structure and as part of the medical team. Through its participation in UN and EU peacekeeping operations, the Serbian Armed Forces contribute to building and safeguarding global peace, while also actively supporting the strengthening of Serbia’s foreign policy position.
