SAF engineers providing assistance to residents of villages near Prokuplje

As part of their regular engineering training, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, in cooperation with the local government in Prokuplje, are currently performing engineering works to regulate the Mikulovac River bed and improve the road between the villages of Gornje Kordince and Jugovac.
Tasked with this assignment - one of numerous CIMIC projects - is an engineering task force drawn from the Third Army Brigade, working alongside personnel of Prokuplje’s Public Utility Enterprise. The objective of the engineering works is preventative in nature: to increase the riverbed’s water flow capacity, establish conditions for effective flood defence, and improve the existing road infrastructure.

As part of the planned works, the task force is clearing overgrown vegetation, accumulated silt, and other debris from the riverbed. In addition, they are repairing potholes and levelling the road between the villages of Gornje Kordince and Jugovac, utilizing SAF units’ modern engineering machinery.
In addition to providing assistance and improving the daily lives of residents in the Prokuplje area villages, the riverbed regulation and road repair efforts serve as practical training under real-world conditions for engineering units. This contributes to the enhancement of their operational capabilities and readiness for future Serbian Armed Forces missions and the execution of specialized tasks.

The Serbian Armed Forces conduct CIMIC projects across the country with the aim of strengthening trust and mutual understanding with local communities, improving living conditions, and protecting property. Through such efforts, the Serbian Armed Forces demonstrate that they are always at the service of citizens, not only to defend the country, but also to assist those in the greatest need.
