Flight training on multi-purpose fighter aircraft

Pilots of the 101st Fighter Squadron - “Knights” are undergoing training on MiG-29 multi-purpose fighter aircraft at the Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović Military Airfield in Batajnica, near Belgrade.
In accordance with the flight training programme, pilots are practicing procedures such as paired take-offs and landings, target interception using traditional guidance and free pursuit, along with elements of aerial combat. Interceptions are conducted under both favourable and challegning weather conditions, during daytime and nighttime flights, with a focus on medium altitudes and traditional guidance methods.

Flight training helps pilots maintain and improve their skills, so that they can fully utilize the aircraft and its weapon systems through the application of tactical procedures.
In addition to their routine flight duties and training, members of the 101st Fighter Squadron are also tasked as part of the permanently deployed forces responsible for the control and defence of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.

A fighter aviation duty unit from this squadron carries out tasks such as intercepting aircraft for identification and monitoring, escorting them out of restricted or hazardous zones, guiding them back to their planned flight path, directing them out of Serbian airspace or, if necessary, forcing them to land at a designated airfield. The unit is also tasked with providing assistance to aircraft in emergency situations – all in support of safe air traffic management and the preservation of the Republic do Serbia’s airspace sovereignty.
