Chief of the US National Guard Bureau visits Serbia



Chief of General Staff LTG Miloje Miletic met today with the Chief of the US National Guard Bureau General Craig McKinley and the Commander of the Ohio National Guard Gregory Wayt who is leading the Ohio National Guard delegation in a working visit to Serbia.

In his opening remarks, as General Miletic said, Serbia started the cooperation with the ONG in 2006 as part of the State Partnership program.

- We have intensified cooperation in the previous period, especially in the field of military education, specializing officers and NCOs, exchange of units and training of units, civil-military cooperation, military medicine, media relations especially in military economy field. I would especially like to point out the “Humanitarian assistance” campaign in Lapovo, Sokobanja and Prokuplje municipalities.

Mixed teams made up of Serbian and Ohio Naional Guard members will be working on planning and implementation of the new NCO corps yet to be established in the Serbian army, as well as in the field of air force and military medicine.

The fact that this year the Chief of the US National Guard Bureau has come is another confirmation of the excellent cooperation of our forces with the American Guard, and we hope to have an even more fruitful cooperation in the upcoming period.

In his opening words, the Chief of the Bureau general Craig McKinely pointed out that the cooperation has been constantly improving, as can be seen in the fact that there have been many delegation exchanges and that both sides have worked together on many projects, while General Wayt called Serbia his second home, where he always had a pleasant stay.

Stressing that the US National Guard has some 450000 members, and is developing similar relations with over 60 countries in the world, General emphasized that each year this cooperation was becoming stronger and proving even more fruitful.

Since 2006 we have had 75 joint activities, and during my meeting with General Miletic we spoke about further improvement of cooperation, and numerous activities which all testify to successful realization of our plans.
