Bilateral defence consultations held between Serbia and United States
The ninth round of bilateral defence consultations between the Republic of Serbia and the United States was held today at the Guard House. The Serbian delegation, representing the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces was led by Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Predrag Bandić, while the delegation representing the U.S. Department of Defense was headed by David Baker, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy. Through open dialogue, the two sides reviewed the progress of their existing cooperation and agreed on ways to deepen defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with the aim of further strengthening overall bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States. The importance of dialogue and consultations on key defence matters was emphasized, along with the shared intention to use this forum to reaffirm existing cooperation and outline new directions for future collaboration. It was highlighted that priority areas could include training and exercises, education, development of military healthcare, peacekeeping operations, military-economic cooperation, and other fields of mutual interest. As part of the consultations, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense David Baker delivered a brief presentation on regional security in Europe, with particular emphasis on the Western Balkans.
