Serbian Armed Forces in peace-keeping mission: Regular force rotation in Lebanon

In accordance with the annual plan of engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces and other defence forces in multinational operations, regular rotation of the SAF contingent deployed in Sector East has been carried out in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon.
The Serbian Armed Forces contingent assigned to this sector comprises an infantry company, staff officers and a group of specialists responsible for providing support to our contingent.

Over the past six months, they served with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, carrying out all their tasks responsibly and professionally, abiding by high standards of conduct that apply to members of the Serbian Armed Forces. After handing over their duties to the new contingent today, their engagement in this peacekeeping operation has officially ended.
The Serbian Armed Forces’ contribution to UNIFIL began in 2010. In addition to the personnel assigned to Sector East, a SAF force protection platoon is also currently serving with this mission, in Sector West.

By participating in peacekeeping operations, the Serbian Armed Forces contribute to building and safeguarding peace in the world, while simultaneously confirming their professionalism and ability to employ forces and resources in an international framework. In addition to strengthening operational capabilities and interoperability, missions like this also contribute to the development of international cooperation and strengthening our country’s reputation.
