Selective flight training for Military Academy cadets
Selective flight training of candidates for enrolment in the Military Air Force Programme of Study at the Military Academy is being conducted at the ‘Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović’ military airfield in Batajnica.

The training is conducted on Utva V-53 planes and represents the final stage of selection for the enrolment of future military pilots. It is conducted by pilots and technicians of the 252nd Training Squadron from the 204th Air Force Brigade.
Major Nikola Stanković, squad leader in the 252nd Training Squadron, says that the training has been underway for seven days, and that the candidates are currently flying with their instructors.
— Before arrival at the airport and their first flights, they all successfully passed the entrance exam at the Military Academy, underwent physical and medical examinations and completed parachute training, after which they had two jumps. After completing the technical classroom at the Air Force and Air Defence Training Centre, they begin “ground” preparations and then fly with us in the squadron — Major Stanković says.

Captain First Class Sandra Radovanović, one of the instructors who trains future pilots, says that they primarily require psychophysical readiness and endurance from candidates.
— They must also have the necessary level of knowledge that allows them to successfully complete the training. We particularly monitor their ability to navigate in airspace, which is an environment that is not natural for humans, as well as their reactions and procedures when performing flight elements, Captain Radovanović emphasises.

Candidates who achieve the best results during the training will begin their studies as cadets of the 150th class of the Military Academy in the Military Aviation study programme and will have the opportunity, upon completion of their studies, to find themselves in command of the most modern combat planes and helicopters in the arsenal of the Serbian Armed Forces.
