Basic Training for soldiers on military service

Soldiers, whose voluntary military service started early this month, are currently doing basic training in the Serbian Armed Forces training centres in Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac.
After being introduced to the main rules of military organisation, successful adaptation to life and work in the barracks and the oath-taking, the youngest soldiers are now undergoing intensive training in the Serbian Armed Forces training areas.

This phase of training lasts until mid-July and is identical for soldiers of all specialties. During that period of time, soldiers learn to use personal weapons and military equipment, the proper execution of basic tactical actions in attack and defence and to fulfil the responsibilities of internal service.

Special attention is paid to practicing drill and individual tactical actions and procedures on the battlefield and on conducting scheduled firing practices, so that young soldiers can acquire basic military knowledge and skills and adequately prepare for training in the use of weapons and military equipment of their branch, or service.
At the end of this phase, soldiers are to be tested for their ability to carry out basic individual tasks and then they will be transferred to specialised training centres.

Although they have been in the Armed Forces for a few weeks, the soldiers demonstrate high motivation and dedication in training and execution of all other tasks. Many of them have already expressed their wish to become professional soldiers in the Serbian Armed Forces for which they can apply while still performing their military service.
