Class of June 2025 takes military oath, Minister Gašić attends

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today the oath-taking ceremony held at the Field Marshal Živojin Mišić Barracks in Valjevo. The oath was taken by the June 2025 class of military service volunteers and candidates for admission to professional military service.
Congratulating the soldiers on taking the oath, Minister of Defence said that “today's ceremony testifies to the fact that the spirit of patriotism, honour, and responsibility has not lost its strength. On the contrary, moments like these remind us that there are values that are permanent and assure us that this country and this nation have not lost their bearings“.

- These young men and women standing in formation have assured us of this by uttering the words that are more binding than any contract or promise. By taking the oath today, they have voluntarily dedicated themselves to protecting Serbia - its territory, people and freedom. Their words are the foundation on which trust between generations is built. We, seniors, see our own dreams and ideals in their eyes and we are happy that those ideals have remained the same, that Serbia is in their hearts as it has always been in ours, said the Minister of Defence.
According to him, from now on, they are no longer ordinary citizens, but soldiers.

- You have become members of a strong and highly organized institution that the Serbian people deeply respect and trust. By joining our ranks and putting on the uniform of the Serbian Armed Forces, you have become a mirror image of the values we represent. Some of you are facing a six-month military service, and others are facing professional military service. Upon completion of military service, some of you will return to your homes, find employment or continue your education, and some of you will pursue your careers in the military, improving your skills and advancing - Minister Gašić stressed, adding that the idea that brought them here, no matter how different it may seem to some, is basically the same.
He told them that they were a braver and more responsible part of their generation precisely because they were ready to prove it.

- The proof you provide is your readiness to accept discipline, to undergo training that is not easy, to learn how to defend yourselves and others. Your actions say - I am part of the community, and the community is part of me. Your actions show that your fellow citizens, your friends, your parents can rely on you. I especially want to thank your parents, on behalf of our state and the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, for guiding you on to the right path, for instilling the spirit of patriotism in you. Dear parents, thank you for coming from all parts of Serbia to Valjevo today, to the barracks named after Field Marshal Mišić, thank you for your hard work and sacrifice, thank you for giving your sons and daughters beautiful and honourable upbringing - said the Minister of Defence.
According to Minister Gašić, the Republic of Serbia continues to pursue its policy of peace, but remains determined to defend its independence.

- That is exactly why we keep on investing in strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces - in its weapons, equipment and a better status of our members. We will be strong, but not in order to attack anyone, but to deter everyone from attacking us. That is our policy and our message. Dear military service volunteers and future professional soldiers, congratulations on taking the oath and good luck. May God protect you and may heroes’ good fortune be with you. Serbia is proud of you, just as you are proud to serve it. Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! Long live Serbia - concluded Minister Gašić.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, Deputy Commander of the Training Command, Brigadier General Nebojša Cvetković, Head of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Department (J-2) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Dragan Arsenijević, Deputy Head of the Office of the Minister of Defence, Colonel Nikola Matović, representatives of the county and local self-government, Serbian Orthodox Church, and numerous relatives and friends of the soldiers. The Commander of today’s ceremony was the Commander of the Second Training Centre in Valjevo, Colonel Saša Stojiljković.
Private Bogdanka Savić from Prokuplje continues her family tradition and wants to work as a professional soldier in our armed forces.

- Each day is different and brings a new challenge. Each day brings something new and is, therefore, more interesting. My time here is just as I wanted it to be and the training has met my expectations - said Bogdanka Savić.

The reasons why Uroš Gačić from Krupanj took the military oath today are patriotism and his childhood dream.
- Naturally, I am here because I want to work in the Serbian Armed Forces, that is, to become a member of the Military Police. Adjusting to everyday life in the military has been the biggest challenge for me, and, of course, I would also single out shooting, Gačić said.
