Joint concert by “Stanislav Binički” Art Ensemble, British military band

The Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički” and the British Army Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers held a joint concert at the Central Military Club’s main assembly hall tonight.
The concert featured the Brass Quintet, one of the British Army reserve bands, which represents its infantry regiment at formal events, parades and international performances.

The concert programme included a mosaic of cultural influences and music genres, from classical pieces and operas, Italian canzoni and Latin American music, pop and rock covers, to Serbian schlager music tracks and famous marches.
The first part of the concert, conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Đurov, was dedicated to classical music, tradition and solo expression. It was performed by our symphony orchestra with choir soloists Marijana Radosavljević (soprano), Svetozar Vujić (baritone) and Dragan Milanović (tenor), while Captain Nenad Ninković performed one of the most famous pieces of Spanish concert music, Concierto de Aranjuez, on the trumpet.

The British band took the stage next. Conducted by Captain Richard Watterson, the band performed the Liberty Bell March and great hits by legendary bands, such as Queen, the Beatles, and Adele.
After a round of applause, the British band remained on stage and performed the third part of the programme together with the Binički Ensemble and conductor Lieutenant Colonel Igor Mitrović. This part of the programme included the performances of soloists Viktor Isaković (oboe) and Major Duško Trnavac (clarinet), as well as soprano Biljana Vasiljević Mitrović, who performed one of the 20th century’s most performed love songs - Bésame Mucho.
At the end of the concert, the two bands performed Tamo Daleko and Marš na Drinu, receiving a standing ovation from the Belgrade audience.

The concert was attended by members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, the UK Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Edward Ferguson, and numerous citizens.
Tonight's concert was the latest in a series of joint concerts performed with different military bands both in Serbia and the United Kingdom over the past few years as part of international military cooperation between the two countries.
