ASEWG Service Day
ASEWG Service Day — June 18, was celebrated today at the Banjica barracks in Belgrade in memory of the day in 1915 when an order was issued to establish permanent signal stations to detect and report the direction and movement of enemy planes, which laid the foundations for the development of this service.
On this occasion, a military ceremony was held, including a parade featuring the units of the 126th ASEWG Brigade and an overview of the service’s rich history and major achievements in building operational capabilities. Awards were presented to the most deserving individuals and wreaths were laid at a memorial located in the barracks, dedicated to the victims of the 1999 NATO aggression.The overview of past year’s results highlighted the service members’ improved skills and the provision of state-of-the-art automation systems and radars for the unit, which now fulfils the highest standards required for performing airspace control, combat aircraft and AD artillery-missile units guidance and navigational assistance for aircraft.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Air Defence Command, Colonel Dragan Mrdak, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces units, local self-government bodies and institutions that work closely with the 126th ASEWG Brigade.
