Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić paid a visit to the Ministry of Defence Centre in Niš today, where he got acquainted with its operations and tasks. The Head of the Defence Obligations Department, Colonel Saša Petrović, briefed Minister Gašić about the implementation of the Centre's principal tasks, giving particular attention to the execution of tasks relating to defence preparations.
According to Minister Gašić, the Centre is very important with regard to military conscription and in terms of the fact that young people have their first encounter with the defence system there. - The Centre’s activities at the local level are important in that they bring military profession closer to young people and provide basic information about what awaits them during military service. By continuously investing in infrastructure and equipment, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces strive to improve the working and living conditions of our service members and thus create even better conditions for performing military service and choosing the military profession as a career – said Minister Gašić.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the Mayor of Niš, Dragoslav Pavlović, in attendance. At the meeting, Minister Gašić highlighted the good cooperation between the MoD Centre in Niš and the local self-government and expressed his belief that the cooperation would be even more fruitful in the future. Minister Gašić was accompanied on his visit to the MoD Centre in Niš by the acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources, Siniša Radović, Head of the Logistics Department, General Staff, Major General Saša Petrović, and the acting Head of the Regional Centre Niš, Lieutenant Colonel Saša Đorđević.
