Military paratroopers undergo wind tunnel training

The 63rd Parachute Brigade members, who are undergoing advanced forms of military paratrooper training, have been to Prague for free-fall simulator / wind tunnel training.
This type of training aims to reduce the time needed to master complex parachuting techniques, increase safety and reduce the use of material resources, because the wind tunnel gives the trainees an opportunity to practise free-fall elements in a controlled setting, simulating real-world situations in which paratroopers jump from aircraft flying at up to 4000 metres.

The time each paratrooper spent in the wind tunnel is equivalent to about 50 free-fall training jumps from an aircraft, which is a significant advantage over classic training methods in terms of cost-effectiveness, efficacy and safety.

The trainees practised jumping with weapons and military equipment and honed the techniques of maintaining body stability during free-fall.

The wind tunnel training, which our paratroopers have attended in the Czech Republic over the past few years, is only one segment of a complex training that members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade undergo throughout the year in order to maintain a high level of ability to carry out their tasks in SAF operations.
