A graduation ceremony was held today in the Military Academy’s assembly hall for the 49th class of the Military Grammar School, which marks its 55th anniversary this year. On that occasion, the Commandant of the Military Academy, Colonel Srđan Blagojević, Ph.D., expressed his gratitude to those who had helped the Military Academy produce another outstanding generation of future cadets and emphasized that the graduating students had achieved success with the great support and effort of their teachers, commanding officers and parents. - The Military Academy is getting ready for a new generation of cadets, where you, dear students, will have an important role – said Colonel Blagojević and expressed his satisfaction with the excellent results achieved by this class in the Military Academy’s entrance exam.
The head of the Military Grammar School, Colonel Blagoje Đačić, said that the 49th class had worked diligently to surpass their role models and thanked their parents for recognizing the Military Grammar School’s quality and for steering their children towards pursuing education there. - Our graduates, the 49th class, travellers and seafarers, have crowned their four-year schooling with excellent achievement, outstanding results and great success – said Colonel Đačić, adding that younger generations would look up to them during their schooling.
The 49th Class Commander, Captain 1st Class Dušan Stanić, noted that the graduates had stepped into the Military Grammar School only four years before, wishing to one day join the ranks of Military Academy cadets. - That day has come, today we celebrate the students’ academic success, their soldier growth, their camaraderie and their maturity – said Captain 1st Class Stanić.
As is tradition at graduation ceremonies, top students were announced. Engraved wristwatches were given to Anđela Mladenović, the valedictorian, and Ilija Živković and Sanja Krstić, who ranked second and third in the class. They were presented with the awards by the Rector of the Defence University, Brigadier General Boban Đorović, Ph.D. The Second Lieutenant Borko Nikitović Foundation Award, which has been traditionally awarded to the highest ranked student in a graduating class since 1993, was presented to Anđela Mladenović by Zora Nikitović, the mother of the late guard member, Second Lieutenant Borko Nikitović.
The 49th class valedictorian, Anđela Mladenović, said that she was deeply honoured to have been given the opportunity to make a speech at the graduation ceremony on behalf of her class. - When we first stepped into the Military Grammar School, each of us had different expectations and a shared fear of the unknown. We did not know what life in a boarding school looked like, how relationships were built in a tightly organized system, or what it meant to be part of such a collective - said Anđela, emphasizing that “studying at the Military Grammar School creates mature people capable of facing all life's challenges”. The ceremony was attended by Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović and Military Bishop Dositej of Lipljan. The event was enhanced by the performances given by the Military Grammar School’s student choir and members of the music and recitation clubs.
