New SAF contingent in UN mission in Central African Republic

In accordance with the annual plan of engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces and other defence forces in multinational operations, a regular rotation of SAF troops serving in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) has been conducted this week.

SAF personnel serving in this mission comprise staff officers, military observers and Level 2+ hospital staff, who provide primary and secondary medical care to UN peacekeepers, urgent surgical and other interventions, basic dental care and CASEVAC.
The outgoing SAF contingent has successfully completed all its tasks under the mission mandate, demonstrating in a multinational environment the professionalism and competence of the Serbian Armed Forces personnel.

The handover/takeover ceremony was held in the Serbian Morava Base, located in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, where our military hospital is located. Having been briefed about the security situation and key activities in the mission area, the new contingent took over the tasks entrusted to the Serbian contingent in this mission.

By contributing to peacekeeping operations, the Serbian Armed Forces also contribute to building and safeguarding world peace, while simultaneously confirming its professionalism and ability to employ its resources in an international framework. In addition to enhancing our armed forces’ operational capabilities and interoperability, missions like this contribute to strengthening international cooperation and building up our country’s reputation.
