Signal Brigade units doing mobile camp

Signal Brigade units are doing mobile camp at locations outside their peacetime stations. The activity includes collective training in carrying out specific tasks in SAF operations.
In addition to professional unit members, the training also includes military service volunteers (December 2024 class) with the following military occupational specialties: radio relay, telephone and radio teleprinter operators, who are learning to operate a radio station, radio relay centre and a mobile switching system.

The training focuses on setting up mobile telecommunications centres at command posts and establishing and maintaining various types of connections. Military service volunteers are also practising laying cables.

Lieutenant Colonel Mladen Šaponja, commander of the camp area in the vicinity of  Kovin Airport, where one of the Signal Brigade’s units is training, says that the mobile camp is a perfect opportunity to test the functionality of telecommunications and IT services between the stationary and mobile parts of the unit.

— Activities we are carrying out at the mobile camp are closely related to modern warfare, so we are practising electronic warfare counter-measures, as well as camouflaging and defending a mobile telecommunications and information centre — says Lt. Col. Šaponja, adding that this unit is special because it has a large number of young members who are given the perfect opportunity to test the modern devices in this type of environment and perfect the knowledge they acquired during their schooling.

In addition to providing professional members and military service volunteers with training, mobile camp in real-world conditions improves the skills of the Signal Brigade necessary for planning and providing telecommunications and IT services to operational and strategic commands, which is vital for an effective command of Serbian Armed Forces units.
