Minister Gašić attends event marking Army of Republika Srpska Day, Third Infantry (Republika Srpska) Regiment Day
Today, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended the official ceremony marking the Day of the Army of Republika Srpska and the Day of the Third Infantry (Republika Srpska) Regiment of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the Kozara Barracks in Banja Luka. On that occasion, he laid a wreath in the Central Memorial Room of the Army of Republika Srpska, accompanied by the Head of the Logistics Department of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Major General Saša Petrović, and the Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, Brigadier General Željko Furundžić.
The ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the foundation of the Army of Republika Srpska and the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Third Infantry (Republika Srpska) Regiment was attended by the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, representatives of institutions of Republika Srpska and the Republic of Serbia, representatives of religious communities, public figures and numerous guests. At today’s ceremony, the audience was addressed by the Serb member and Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, President of Republika Srpska Dodik, Deputy Defence Minister at the Council of Ministers, Aleksandar Goganović, and the Commander of the Third Infantry Regiment, Brigadier Goran Maksimović. They spoke about the history of the Army of Republika Srpska, the heroes who gave their lives, and the Third Infantry (Republika Srpska) Regiment, which upholds the traditions of that army. As part of the ceremony marking the anniversaries, a memorial service was held for the fallen members of the army and civilians, and an accompanying programme including traditional music performances was held.
