Memorial service honouring Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović held
An Air Force and Air Defence delegation, led by Deputy Commander of the 204th Air Brigade Colonel Boško Šerbedžija, laid a wreath today near the memorial to Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović in Gornje Crniljevo, to honour the memory of Colonel Pavlović, who died heroically defending the sky over our country during the 1999 NATO aggression. Wreaths were also laid by the Pavlović family, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, local self-government and veterans’ associations. Priests from the Diocese of Valjevo and the local Church of the Translation of the Holy Relics of Holy Great Martyr George officiated a service next to the memorial dedicated to Colonel Pavlović and all those who died in the liberation wars.
As part of the event honouring the memory of Milenko Pavlović and the 26th anniversary of his death, a memorial race was held for the fourth time, in which 60 members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces participated alongside other citizens. Milenko Pavlović was born on October 5, 1959, in Gornje Crniljevo, municipality of Osečina near Valjevo. He was a pilot of the Yugoslav Army and the wartime commander of the 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment. He died in an air battle against the NATO aggressor over Valjevo on May 4, 1999. He was posthumously awarded the Order for Bravery, Gold Pilot Wings, and the Order of St. Bishop Nikolaj, the highest decoration of the Diocese of Valjevo.
