Training on artillery systems of great firepower

Professional service members of the Mixed Artillery Brigade are undergoing intensive training in the combat use of 155 mm B-52 M-15 Nora self-propelled gun-howitzers and 262 mm M-87 Orkan self-propelled four-barrel rocket launchers at the Mixed Artillery Brigade’s deployment areas and the military training grounds in the vicinity of Niš.
This is regular training aiming to maintain a high level of proficiency in providing fire support to Army units and to prepare professional soldiers for additional duties as part of crews of these combat systems of great firepower.

In this training phase, artillery and missile batteries are focused on practicing the tactics for preparing and delivering indirect fire. They are practicing actions and procedures used when carrying out reconnaissance, taking up a firing position, establishing an observation post and detecting a target, as well as carrying out fire command. Through collective training, perfect coordination among all teams is achieved, and the entire process, from target detection to opening fire, is perfected.
In the next phase, the combat crews will face more complex training activities in the field and firing practices, where they will get the chance to demonstrate their tactical and firearms skills necessary for carrying out specific tasks in combat operations.

Continuous training and tactical drills are vital for maintaining the proficiency of artillery and missile system crews and, consequently, for improving the overall ability of the Mixed Artillery Brigade to provide reliable, precise and powerful fire support to Serbian Armed Forces units during operations.
