Serbian Armed Forces General Staff observes its Slava (Patron Saint’s Day)



Patron Saint’s Day of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, the Feast of the Holy Great Martyr George - St. George's Day, was celebrated today at the Banjica 2 Barracks in Belgrade.
The celebration started with the holy liturgy, followed by the blessing of the gifts and the cutting of the “Slava” bread. After this, members of the Serbian Armed Forces had festive Slava lunch.

The celebration was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, Deputy Head of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lt. Gen. Tiosav Janković, acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović, members of the collegium of the Chief of the General Staff and numerous officers, non-commissioned officers and civil servants employed at the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.
The Serbian Armed Forces General Staff has been celebrating St. George's Day since 2018, keeping alive the Serbian army’s tradition of celebrating feast days, which began in 1888.
