MoD members attend Beijing Xiangshan Forum Meeting

At the invitation of China’s Ministry of National Defense, members of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Dušan Mrdak and Colonel Milan Miljković have attended the Beijing Xiangshan Forum Navigator Meeting.
The meeting, whose theme was "Opportunities and Challenges for Global Security", was held with the aim of creating more opportunities for defence officials, scholars and experts from international organizations to exchange opinions and views on the current global security landscape.
The two-day conference featured four panel discussions focusing on the following topics – the trend of defence and military cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, the trend of great power relations after the super election year, the role of BRICS in global security governance, and the role of the United Nations in resolving global and regional hotspots security issues. During the last panel, Colonel Mrdak presented the position of the Republic of Serbia as a small and neutral state, which strongly supports firm adherence to the collective security system based on the UN Charter and which consistently advocates strengthening the role of that organization in protecting international law and the principle of state sovereignty.
As one of the largest multilateral defence and security forums, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum declares itself to be an inclusive dialogue platform that upholds the spirit of equality, openness and mutual learning, encouraging participants to make greater contributions to addressing global security challenges collectively. By fostering dialogue and global security exchange and cooperation, the forum aims to contribute to global stability in a very dynamic and unpredictable environment. With the results achieved during the navigator meeting, the 12th Xiangshan Forum, which is to be held in Beijing in autumn, is expected to be more constructive and productive.
