Sergeant First Class Milan Stanković, a member of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, passed away this evening at the Niš Military Hospital due to injuries sustained around 5:20 p.m. today during a parachute jump at the "Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović" military airfield in Niš.
Sergeant First Class Stanković was seriously injured upon landing, after which he was immediately resuscitated and transported to the Niš Military Hospital, where, despite the rapid response and efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries around 7:00 p.m.
Relevant authorities have arrived at the scene, and an investigation is underway. By order of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, a commission has been formed to determine the circumstances of this extraordinary event.
Sergeant First Class Stanković was born on 25th December 1983, and has served in the Serbian Armed Forces since 2005. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, sent telegrams of condolences to the family of the deceased Stanković.
