Military Medical Service Day marked

In the presence of State Secretaries Zoran Jeftic, Igor Jovicic and Zoran Vesic, SAF CHOD LTG Miloje Miletic, other SAF generals and officers, reps of military and civil health institutions, Deans of the medical schools in Serbia and DAs accredited to Belgrade, the Day of the Medial Military Service was marked today in the House of Guards in Topcider.

Reminding that on 30 July 1839, the first Serbian army doctor was appointed that day as the head of the military medical service of the Serbian army, followed five years later by a formation of the first military hopistal, Head of the Militray Medical Service Brig. Gen. Veljko Todorovic stressed in his address that the members of this service were providing full medical service at all levels, primary, secondary and tertiary.

The MMA is certainly the main bearer of these activities, because it is not only the hospital, but also an institution which organizes and realizes at the same time medical education, and conducts medical research. However, we must not forget other institutions such as military hospitals in Nis and Novi Sad which were starting this year opened for civilians ads well as other preventive health care centers which act within this powerful and highly functional military medical system.

- We have managed to establish an even better cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic Health Insurance Institute , our military medical unit is stationed in Chad and is very active in this peace mission, we have procured certain medical equipment enabling us to implement our knowledge more efficiently and effectively. Furthermore our activities include equipping medical ward in Jug military base in a way that any other medical wards are equipped within SAF , as the first man of the military medical service of SAF pointed out.
