St. Vidus ceremony in Nis

A St. Vitus celebration was held last night in the yard of the Church in Nis attended by His Holiness the Serbian patriarch Irinej, the commander of the army LTG Ljubisa Dikovic, Mayor of Nis Milos Simonovic and numerous citizens of Nis.

In his speech, Minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the Church and the Serbian army especially in the field of education. He underlined that SAF was a leader in terms of the trust our people have in state institutions.

In his address, Patriarch Orinej said: AS long as there are our sacred places, Kosovo is not lost. It is our holy land, and there is room for us and our neighbors. As long as we keep Kosovo in our minds and hearts, it will not be lost.

Let us be unified in eternal values, truth and justice, regarding one another as brothers and friends, and then God will help us. This St. Vitus Eve in Nis we should cherish as the holiest of days, a day of spiritual and moral victory, of moral unity, brotherhood and love.

The Mayor of Nis Milos Simonovic expressed his pleasure at seeing so many top officials at the ceremony, at seeing so many Church officials, and the defense minister along with the generals of the army, at seeing all three pillars of the community, seeing them all united, as only these three pillars of our society standing united can provide peace and security to our country.

The programme included the performances of “Branko” church choir, Nis military orchestra, actors and other illustrious performers.

During the ceremony in Nis, Minister attended the exercir of the guard and the performance of the Representative Orchestra of the Guard.
