Balkan CHODs conference



The fourth conference of the Balkan CHODs was held today in Brasov, Romania where all announced representatives participated except for the CHOD of Turkey who was represented by his deputy.

The chairpersons of the Coordination group, Subgroup for asymmetrical threats and the Subgroup for Training, Education and Exercises submitted a report on their group’s annual work approved by the attending chiefs of staff.

The priorities would focus on education and training through joint activities in line with the List of Activities with an accent on joint exercises.

The members of the forum agreed that the planning and realization o these activities would be more effective if all the members of the forum attended the conference.

Given the existence of the regional initiative, the conclusion of the conference was that the activities should be synchronized in the future as well as the performing of military exercises.

The forum of Balkan chiefs of staff will continue to grow and maintain security in the Balkans, to develop neighbourly relations, and promote their activities in terms of modern security risks and challenges which can be overcome only through joint effort.

At the end of the conference General Miroslav Stojanovski stated that Macedonia offered to be the host of next year’s conference.

In the afternoon, General Miletic had talks with Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Gaskin, with the Chairman of the EU Military Committee General Siren and the Chief of GS of Greece
