Rotation of SAF units in UNFICYP

After a six-month deployment with the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), members of the Serbian Armed Forces MP Section have returned to the Republic of Serbia after handing over their tasks to a new contingent.
During their deployment, they carried out all their tasks responsibly and professionally, earning the highest marks and praise from the mission command.

The SAF MP Section is part of Serbia’s contribution to the UNFICYP, which serves as part of the British contingent and is responsible for a wide range of tasks, such as protecting the mission’s personnel, conducting investigations and providing escort for important persons. The Serbian unit works closely with the local police force.

In addition to the MP section, the Serbian Armed Forces currently provide staff officers to the mission command in Nicosia. Until 2018, our contribution to the UNFICYP comprised a platoon-sized infantry unit.
