Opened Competition for Enrolment in Military Schools



The Ministry of Defence invites the young to apply for enrolment in military schools which will be open until March 31, 2024.

This year’s competition envisages the enrolment of 185 future cadets of the Military Academy, 25 cadets of the Military Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, 110 pupils of the Military Grammar School - 80 of them at general study course, five for the admission in the second, and five for the admission in the third grade of the general study course and 75 pupils of the Military Vocational High School “1300 Corporals”.

In the upcoming academic year 2024/2025, the Military Academy offers undergraduate academic studies with the following majors:the Army, Military Aviation, Military Electronic Engineering, Military Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Protection, Military Traffic Engineering and Defence Economics.

Young men and women born in 2003 or later are eligible for enrolment in undergraduate academic studies at the Military Academy, whereas those born in 2004 or later are eligible for enrolment in the MMA Medical Faculty. Another prerequisite for the enrolment in the Military Academy is that the candidates have completed a four-year high school, that is, that they are currently in their final year at a four-year high school. For the enrolment in the MMA Medical Faculty, the preconditions is that the candidates have completed grammar school, four-year medical or veterinarian vocational high school or that they are currently attending the fourth grade of grammar school, or four-year medical or veterinarian vocational high school.

To apply for the following study programmes - Military Electronic Engineering, Military Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Protection and Military Traffic Engineering, the candidates will need to have completed a four-year technical or grammar school, or that they are currently attending the fourth grade of a technical or grammar school. Candidates who wish to become cadets of the Military Aviation study programme have to meet additional criteria laid down in the special medical and psychological assessment programme for candidates for that study programme, and they have to successfully complete selective parachute and flight training.

Studies at the Military Academy have the structure of undergraduate academic studies, lasting for four years, which implies 240 ECTS credits. Upon the completion of studies, the cadets acquire higher education and professional degrees.

Studies at the MMA Medical Faculty have the structure of integrated academic studies lasting for six years (12 semesters) granting, 360 ECTS credits. Upon the completion of the studies, cadets acquire higher education and are awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree, as prescribed by the accredited study programme.

After completing their studies, the Military Academy cadets will be admitted to professional military service and promoted to second lieutenants of the corresponding branch or service, whereas the Medical Faculty graduates will be admitted to professional military service and promoted to medical service second lieutenants.

Boys and girls born in 2008 or later are eligible for the enrolment in Belgrade’s Military Grammar School and "1,300 Corporals" Military Vocational High School. Those born in 2007 or later are eligible for the enrolment in the second grade, and those born in 2006 or later are eligible for the enrolment in the third grade of the Military Grammar School.

The first part of the selection includes psychological and medical tests. In the second phase of the selection, conducted for the candidates who have successfully passed the first selection phase, the candidates are to undergo a physical fitness test, as well as tests of their knowledge of mathematics, the Serbian language and literature. In addition, during the selection process, the candidates are to be security cleared.

The candidates for the Aviation programme of study at the Military Grammar School have to meet additional conditions stipulated by a separate programme for medical and psychological evaluation of the candidates for that course of study.

Education at the Military Grammar School lasts for four years and uses the general study curriculum for grammar schools in Serbia, which also includes specific military content. After completing their education, the students are obligated to continue their education at the Military Academy.

Candidates for the enrolment in Military Vocational High School “1300 Corporals” also undergo two phases of selection process - psychological and medical evaluation and test of physical fitness and knowledge of mathematics and physics.

The education at Military Vocational High School “1300 Corporals” lasts for four years, in accordance with the curriculum for the Air Force Technical Course, Electronic Warfare Units, Telecommunications and IT, Air Defence Artillery Missile Units, and Airborne Early Warning. After completing their education at Military Vocational High School “1300 Corporals”, the pupils are admitted to the Serbian Armed Forces as professional non-commissioned officers in the rank of sergeant.

Throughout the education, the students will be provided with accommodation, food, textbooks and school supplies, clothing and footwear (uniform), health care and appropriate monthly payments in line with regulations governing the terms, rights and the amount of emoluments in the Ministry of Defence of Serbia.

Apart from supreme education, the Military Academy, MMA Medical Faculty, Military Grammar School, and Military Vocational High School “1300 Corporals” offer numerous opportunities for extracurricular content and activities, encouraging development of talents and interest of pupils and cadets.

The competitions for the enrolment in military schools are open until 31st March 2024.
