Military Grammar School marks 40 years
Under the motto “Knowledge is our weapon”, the Military Gramar School marked its 40th anniversary. The ceremony was attended by MoD and SAF reps as well as the representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, former and current teachers and numerous former alumni of the School.
In his address, the Head of the Military Grammar School Colonel Milan Stevic, MSc, himself a former student, pointed out that this school, established in May 1970 under the name “ Brotherhood and unity” (the motto of former Yugoslavia) had seen in its 40 years more than 8000 students, many of whom were and still are at the main positions in SAF GS and MoD.-This school was and still is a unique education institution which prepare and educates future Military Academy cadets. We have been accomplishing this for 40 years. The Miitary Gramar Schol alumni are still among the best MA cadets. Our uniqueness is in our approach to educating these youths. This special rapport of students with the teachers, and class commanders as well as with all employees is that unique touch which establishes a special bond of students with the Military Grammar School. Days in the boarding school and daily walks from the accommodation facilities to the school, as well as other forms of education, from ski and swimming training to the adjustment period, numerous extra-curricular activities and clubs, make a lasting memory of all of us who once attended the school, said Colonel Stevic.
The address was followed by a documentary and a performance given by the MoD art ensemble “Stanislav Binicki” and the recital of the students.At the end of the celebration, His Holiness Bishop of Hvost Atanasije Rakita, on behalf of this Holiness, the Serbian patriarch, presented Colonel Stevic with the emblem of the Church.
