Minister's lecture at the School of Political Sciences

Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac gave a lecture to the graduate students from Serbia and USA at the School of the Political Science. The lecture was attended by professor Ilija Vujicic, PhD, dean of the faculty, and other professors. It was an excellent opportunity for the graduate students to get acquainted with the current situation in the defense system, and to see the ongoing reforms.

During an in-depth lecture,, Minister presented concrete steps taken by the MoD management in order to overcome many inherited problems from previous years. He reminded the attendees that there had been significant improvements in the defense system which had raised the repute of the army in the whole society.

He pointed out the process of professionalization, rationalization of budgetary funds, reforms of the military medical health care system, military education as well as international military cooperation and the support of MoD to our defense industry as main fields where progress has been made. The SAF has seen an establishment of the personnel pyramid structure.

Deployment of our army in peace missions, in a situation full of asymmetrical threats, is of crucial importance, said Sutanovac remarking that security should be preserved both in and beyond the borders of one country. Once again he reiterated the stance that Serbia had not yet opted to join NATO and that Serbia is yet to make use of all PfP programs.

After the presentation, the students had an opportunity to ask minister questions relating to current security challenges and the state politics regarding the defense system.
