SAF CHOD visits Portugal
SAF CHOD LTG Miloje Miletic, who is visiting Portugal, stated today to the TANJUG news agency that the cooperation between the two armies could be made more concrete through peace operations participation and exchange of experiences.
In a phone statement to TANJUG news agency he remarked that the Ministry of Defense of Portugal had expressed its interest in promoting cooperation by opening an office of the defense attaché.The three-day visit started yesterday at the invitation of the Portuguese CHOD General Luís Vasco Valença Pinto.
Reminding that during the meeting of the two defense ministers in February this last year and in March this year in Lisabon, he said that both sides expressed an interest for the cooperation between the countries to be promoted.“Portuguese armed forces have extensive experience in peace missions and have completed their professionalization successfully, so these are the areas where we can share experiences and make our cooperation more concrete in the upcoming period”, as he said. LTG Miletic also added that both countries had signed a military cooperation agreement, which gives basis for further activities.
Miletic, who is ending his visit tomorrow, will meet with the Minister of defense of Portugal Augusto Santos Silva, and will also visit the quick response brigade and an air base of the air force of Portugal.
