First of two CASA C-295 transport aircraft enters service with Serbian Armed Forces



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited today military airfield Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović in Batajnica, where a CASA C-295 transport aircraft, purchased for the Serbian Armed Forces, is located.
On that occasion, a presentation was given to Minister Vučević and General Mojsilović about the role, capabilities and characteristics of the aircraft that has entered service with the Serbian Armed Forces, which will greatly improve the SAF’s capabilities.

Minister Vučević talked to the pilots who had completed the CASA C-295 flight training in Seville and to the aircraft mechanics who had received training, in the same Spanish city, in performing basic maintenance of this type of aircraft, which will be done in the Republic of Serbia. He had the opportunity to see the pilots’ and mechanics’ competence, and particularly their motivation for work and satisfaction at the fact that they have such an aircraft in their unit.
A contract for the procurement of two CASA C-295 transport aircraft, which will be used for the transport of personnel and cargo, was signed with the Spanish Airbus Defence and Space Company in February, 2022.   
The Minister of Defence was accompanied on today’s visit by Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, PhD, Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, Head of the Development and Equipment Directorate, General Staff, Brigadier General Milan Popović, Head of the Defence Minister’s Cabinet, Brigadier General Goran Momčilović and the Commander of the 204th Air Brigade, Colonel Milan Elenkov.
