New Medical Team of Serbian Armed Forces in European Union Mission

Today, the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations held a send-off celebration for a medical team of the Serbian Armed Forces that is going to be deployed in a European Union military operation for the training of security forces in the Central African Republic.

Our contingent, which is going to spend next six months in this mission, consists of a staff officer who is to be assigned to the duty of the Head of medical service, and a six-member medical team tasked to provide preventive healthcare and outpatient treatment to members of international forces. They will replace doctors and medical technicians of the Serbian Armed Forces who have been engaged on the same tasks in the Central African Republic since April this year.

The ceremonial send-off was attended by Chief of Operations Directorate (J-3) of the General Staff of Serbian Armed Forces Major General Tiosav Janković and Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia Plamena Halacheva.

The Serbian Armed Forces have commenced their engagement in European Union mission in the Central African Republic back in 2016, and in this moment, it is engaging its forces and assets in two more European missions.

By participating in military operations carried out in the framework of European Union joint security and defence policy, members of the Serbian Armed Forces give their contribution to strengthening mutual confidence among EU member states and the enhancement of foreign policy position of our country.
