Rotation of Serbian Armed Forces Units in UN Peacekeeping operation in Cyprus

In Cyprus, there was a regular rotation of Military Police units engaged by the Serbian Armed Forces in United Nations peacekeeping mission in this country.

It is a squad level unit which performs a wide spectrum of military police tasks within the British contingent, such as the implementation of measures for the protection of the engaged forces, investigation actions, security patrols, and escorting distinguished persons. While performing its activities, our unit cooperates with local police forces.

In previous six months, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, who handed over their duty, carried out all the assigned tasks in line with the mission mandate thus representing the Republic of Serbia and Serbian Armed Forces in the best possible manner in an international environment. They are replaced by experienced military policemen from Serbian Armed Forces units, who were sent to the area of operation in late September.

Apart from the Military Police squad, the Serbian Armed Forces have deployed to this United Nations peacekeeping mission in Cyprus staff officers in the Mission Command in Nicosia, and in the period between 2011 and 2018, the SAF deployed an infantry platoon level unit to this mission.
