SAF helps Trgoviste

Trgoviste municipality in the south of Serbia has been ridden with massive floods, unparalleled in the last eighty years. This municipality was visited yesterday by Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic and SAF CHOD LTG MIloje Miletic.

Unfortunately, the floods claimed the lives of two citizens, of Radovan Vlatkovic (1949) and Vukica Stamenkovic (1965) and the flood even broke a concrete levy, sweeping a number of bridges and flooding 100 houses. More than 300 inhabitants were evacuated.

In his tour of the flood-ridden area, the minister stated that SAF and MoD would everything to help the population, while the engineering units of the Fourth brigade from Vranje will help in sanitation and rebuilding and providing relief to the population.

"SAF always comes first on the spot”, as Sutanovac said, stressing that a large number of professional soldiers come from Trgoviste, and that a large number of applicants for the Military Academy come from Trgoviste.

Rasim Ljajic, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, stated that the Government has already approved one-off help to Trgoviste, and that electricity and water supply will soon be restored. The Government will support the rebuilding of damaged and destroyed infrastructure.

Ministers Sutanovac, Ljajic and LTG Miletic sent their condolences.

They also talked with the members of the Fourth Brigade who came on the spot just two hours after this awful storm started, and yesterday they already deployed machines and water tanks.
The President of the Municipality dr Vlasta Petrovic thanked the government and SAF for all their help.
