LTG Miletic receives commander of the Cypriot National Guard

SAF CHOD LTG Miloje Miletic met today with the Commander of the Cypriot National Guard, LTG Petros Tsalikidis who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.

Certainly, there is a mutual interest, especially in terms of regional security and cooperation and there is much room for improving this cooperation”, as LTG Miletic stressed wishing a warm welcome to his colleague from Cyprus while expressing his hope that this visit would contribute to this.

In February this year the defense ministers of both countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of defense during Minister Sutanovac’s visit to Cyprus, therefore this visit should be seen as an opportunity to get a view of all modalities and forms of cooperation.

Today’s meeting was realized in the spirit of mutual cooperation thus greatly strengthening relations between the two countries and their armies, as LTG Tsalikids said.

In his words, this visit is an opportunity to once again confirm both countries’ shared commitment to improve bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation, especially between the armies.

This was also a chance to share ideas and opinions on shared issues regarding military training and participation in peace missions.

AS regards the Kosovo issue, Cyprus offers his full support to Serbia, as the solution to the problem should be in harmony with the UN Charter and international law. This is also a way to support Serbia in its path to join EU.

Yesterday the commander of the Cypriot National Guard was received by Minister Sutanovac.
