SAF troops help citizens of Slovenia mitigate effects of flooding

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, who were deployed to the Republic of Slovenia last week, are involved on a daily basis in various activities designed to help the citizens of this country mitigate the effects of the catastrophic floods.
Our contingent is principally engaged in the north-east of the country in the most severely affected areas - Carinthia and Styria - where, due to floods and landslides, road traffic and the supply of basic necessities to the locals have been disrupted.

Mi-17 and H-145M helicopter crews, augmented by the Serbian Special Forces, are tasked with transporting rescue teams, civilians, water, fuel and other materials, spending more than eight hours a day in the air.
Simultaneously, an engineer working group is engaged in clearing and repairing damaged roads and remedying numerous landslides in the flood-stricken areas, while the Serbian CBRN service members are disinfecting the roads, land and buildings, using tankers and modern disinfection devices.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged in the disaster relief mission in Slovenia are well received by the locals, who express their gratitude to our soldiers for helping them and making a huge effort to get their life back to normal.
The participation of SAF members in the disaster relief mission in the Republic of Slovenia, involving the prevention and mitigation of the impacts of flooding, the Serbian Armed Forces show that they are well-prepared and trained to respond in a short time and provide assistance to the areas affected by natural disasters in the country and the region. This confirms the commitment of the Republic of Serbia to strengthening regional relations and cooperation.
