Celebrating the Day of Europe

Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac and the EU Ambassador to Serbia Vincent Dejer and the Director of the EU Integrations Office Milica Delevic attended the concert held by the MoD art ensemble “Stanislav Binicki” in front of the Cvijeta Zuzoric pavilion at Kalemegdan.

The concert was attended by numerous government representatives, foreign embassies delegations and citizens.

Minister stressed in his congratulatory note that the presence of ambassadors and the reps of the diplomatic corps the support our country needs in its efforts and of its citizens who want to see Serbia within EU.

What we must never forget, as he said, was that a large number of Serbs laid their lives for the foundations of modern Europe.

- !.7 million people died in those times, which is 10 percent of the population back then. When we talk of this, we must recall that Serbia was a part of this system in both World Wars, part of those values we want to recover and reestablish as a country capable of making its own decisions, said Sutanovac, expressing his conviction that this government had the capacity to achieve this.

-Some feared that with the visa liberalization, young people would flee the country, but quite the opposite is happening which is good. We are now free to travel, and today we have EU reps at heir stalls.
MoD’s contribution I really significant, and for the first in EU commission’s report we have a positive report stating that the defense system has been placed under full democratic and civil control, said Minister stating his hope that the process of professionalization would end by the end of the year, which will rank us among the best developed and most modern EU countries.

This day is significant as the Europe Day, which is why the concert is held and the Victory day, which has been commemorated by laying wreaths on Avala.

?WE believe that our main priority is to join EU and we are certain that we have demonstrated our commitment during all these years, as we also celebrate 9 May as the Victory Day.
