Military working dogs undergo special operations training

Handlers and working dogs are currently undergoing anti-terrorism and anti-sabotage operations training in the SAF special and MP units at the Dog Training Centre in Niš.
Professional soldiers - dog handlers, who are doing the training at the Centre, are learning how to use dogs in special operations of the Serbian Armed Forces and to give first aid to dogs who get ill or suffer an injury while carrying out a task.

In parallel with dog handler training, dogs that have been bred at the Centre and specially selected for this purpose are also undergoing training. Upon successful completion of training, the dogs will be assigned to the Serbian Armed Forces units.

Training for these duties lasts for several months. In accordance with the dogs’ future roles, general training and practice of specific activities are conducted during this time, such as attack, defence, overcoming natural and artificial obstacles, breaking into buildings and motor vehicles and neutralizing opponents.
Special actions and operations training for handlers and dogs, which is carried out at the Centre throughout the year, helps improve the capabilities of the Serbian Special Forces, since dogs, thanks to their superior senses and ability to quickly overcome the opponent , without the use of lethal force, are irreplaceable companions in many tasks.
