He started his tour by visiting the “Toplički Ustanak” barracks in Kuršumlija, where he spoke to the commanding officers and officers commanding of the units stationed in this garrison town and informed them about the execution of the primary tasks of the Serbian Armed Forces and plans for the coming period.
At the moment, the members of mechanized battalions whose home station is situated in Kuršumlija, are carrying out summer training, using infantry fighting vehicles and modern optronic equipment that the units of the Third Army Brigade have been provided with in the recent past. The purpose of the training is for the personnel to improve their skills and maintain a high level of combat readiness.
Simultaneously, in the area surrounding Niš and on multiple locations throughout Serbia, candidates who have applied for admission to special units under the 5000 Project continue their intensive selective training, performing daytime and night parachute jumps. The goal is to select highly motivated and mentally and physically fittest candidates for the Serbian Special Forces and to get them to proceed to the next stage of the training process.
The CHOD’s tour of the Army units ended in the “Knjaz Mihailo” barracks in Niš, where he held a meeting with the officers occupying crucial roles in the Serbian Armed Forces. The meeting discussed security situation in the country and in the surrounding region, as well as the level of completion of the most important ongoing projects, whose aim is to improve the capabilities of the Special Forces and to enhance the development of tactical units. The meeting also defined tasks that will help improve the state of affairs, as well as operational and functional capabilities.
During his tour, the Chief of the General Staff also visited the units of the Central Logistics Base in Prokuplje and Smederevska Palanka, where military warehouses are located.
